Travelling is a Love of my life
Travelling is a love of my life..... bursting with new experiences ....so many cultures, customs, terrains and of course food, can’t you just feel those colours, textures, flavours and smells.
I have also learnt that travels don’t always need to be great adventures. They can be as simple as savouring the journey through every day life, alongside those special planned and longed for visits, to different climes. It doesn’t matter where you are or where you go, if you take an open mind, each day provides a canvas for those thought provoking adventures.
Never more so than now, when the whole world has been flipped upside down.....nor will it I suggest, ever be the same. Our travel plans will no doubt take on a different outlook, perhaps be more meaningful and have a different focus. Use your time of self-restraint, to self-reflect and savour the freedoms and not the restrictions that it brings. Ponder on what travel really means to you and more importantly, what really matters. Consider how we took for granted the ability to just take off.... with little or no heed for impact upon communities and planet.
Turn your head to our local communities, rich with colour, culture and personalities...but barely acknowledged in our busy daily lives. Which cultures and behaviours have come to the forefront of our recent observations. Who has inspired us in this time of need, should we get to know them a little more, or travel to their countries to learn and more importantly, gain knowledge for the benefit of us all.
Our communities burst with opportunities if we let them and also provide inspiration for where to travel next....travel in its myriad of forms is as we know, one of life’s greatest enrichments
The more I see, the more I want to see......quite exhausting being me.!!!!
The fly in the ointment when travelling solo can sometimes be other people’s perceptions.... amongst fellow travellers, at hotels, restaurants and actually service industries in general. You can be that invisible person which either mars your trip, or if you have my humour, just flip it on its head. Someone has to help change the perceptions of solo travel don’t they?
Why don’t you join me on my various solo travels, see how they compare to yours and maybe share some of your own ventures.
What had I been up to .... some of the time, planning my trips both far and near. Less appetite for great adventures, despite lots of special tempting offers, but guess what, the prices are for people travelling together. Travelling on your own......sorry not available. If you are very lucky you can pay a single supplement, or be offered that special expensive bespoke package......sounds familiar? How do you deal with that. Specialist groups and tours to join, or do you sometimes like me, just want to do your own thing. We solo travellers are known for our independence and resourceful nature....So how about staying near to home?
Spa breaks ... a perfect way to recover, particularly in the current circumstances or maybe after the year end festivities. A great way of drawing up that plan in anticipation of your next life phase. I like to choose less popular destinations previously unexplored, to combine with my chill and pamper....Just a little bit of adventure, but not too much
Plenty of opportunity to people chat , a warm calm space to reflect and the vital bit, the ability to people watch....no need to take part.
UREKA....plans and ideas often tumble out, if you just follow your rested heart
Just remember though, not too many plans, you may just need to fit in that thing called work !!
Follow me on my first adventures of the year.
